Re: 1904 Proof Dollars - Letter

From mint records, it appears that 340 Proof Standard silver dollars were minted between Jan and April of 1904. Another 310 Proof Standard silver dollars were minted in September and December of 1904. There were two die pairs used for the proof dollars. I have been looking for evidence of which die ...

Re: can't find right vam

It used to be on this site that posting pics of coins before you have it in hand was discouraged. While not all folks agree with that, I do. I am out on this coin.

Re: 1902-0 vam 45a in ANACS MS-63 value

As usual, the coin's desirability and how much one is willing to pay varies. It is a wickedly clashed, rotated coin. But it is under rated. If it had made the WOW list. it might have more fans. That being said, I have had 12 coins cross my hands, all cherry-picked. They are findable if one has patie...

This thread cracks me up. Play by the rules or go home. Rules change. By the way, don't bring politics into this forum. I am surprised Messy didn't delete this thread.

Actually, there is a VAM that was nicknamed the "dirty bird". The nickname did not seem to stick.

Re: 1902-O VAM-31B?

If you go to the top of the 1902-O page, there is a link to Attribution Guides. Then go to the crack finders. Pick the proper reverse type and you should find your coin.

All of the photos on the VAM-7 page are incorrect. As best I can tell, your coin is a VAM-12.

The obverse for VAMs-7 & 12 both have a small chip behind the cap band. They do have different reverses.

Whats tripping you up is that the pics on the VAM-7 page do not appear to be correct. Vam-7 & 12 do share the same obverse.

Re: 1902-o how rare v45-A

Hard to gauge true rarity. I found around 9 or so in my years of working on 1902-Os. Most grade out 62/63. For some reason not widely appreciated it seems. Didn't make the WOW list, maybe because it doesn't come around often. Only auction house sale I ever saw was a PCGS in 63 that was a BIN at $450...

It looks like a lot of what you show are planchet striations. You should learn how to spot them. Maybe this coin will help.
