Re: Morgans I’d Sell

Dealers buy low and sell high. Collectors buy high and sell low. Good luck on the sales.

Re: 1884-S UFO Die Pair

They are from HA, but HA references Collector Universe for the images. I guess better to be safe than sorry and not post them. It may be academic anyway since the obv and rev dies are shown on the other VAM pages.

Re: 1884-S UFO Die Pair

Don't see why not. The obverse die is the same as VAM-8 and the reverse die the same as VAM-4B.

Re: 1884-S UFO Die Pair

If you mean does the UFO die pair have the same obverse as V11, the answer is no. It is a unique obverse die as far as I can tell.

Re: 1884-S UFO Die Pair

Not VAM-13. The V13 date is only far, not very far, and the die chip is in the wrong place. A die study shows the UFO die pair shown above is unique.

VAM-13 shown below.

1884-S UFO Die Pair

There seems to be an unlisted 1884-S die pair. It is a very far date, and a mint mark placement that can be described as set right, maybe slightly high. The reverse is known with polished out wreath leaves, and the ones above ON in ONE are noticeable. On LDS coins, a chip forms on the second wreath ...

Re: Something to Share

Well, after the bath, the 1880-P is not a VAM-13. It sure looked like it could be under a loupe. But keep in mind I have it at VF-20, so determinig the actual VAM is really not possible. The reverse markers for the VAM-13 were just not there. It is headed for the bargain bucket at my local B&M, as a...

Yeah, I need to give the 80-P V13 a bath and look at it again. Stay tuned.

Re: What is a Die Study?

Weth's description is pretty good. I think one of the things that is not talked about a lot is that die studies can identify which markers or PUPS survive all die states. Thus a die study can eliminate a lot of "but my coin has this". Some markers appear or disappear during the die life. Without a d...

Something to Share

So my brother passed about 5 years ago. My sister-in-law is still going thru the house trying to empty it to get ready to sell and downsize. She lives in SF Bay area. But the kicker is she had two uncles who worked for the Bank of Reno. In the early sixties they started to put aside silver dollars t...

1921-D VAM-16 LDS For Taking

I encountered a LDS 1921-D VAM-16. It is raw and looks to be AU50ish. I say it is a LDS because the die cracks are much more extensive than the die crack guide. But I would have no idea. I paid $35. You can have it for $40 and you pay shipping if there are any takers, which I doubt. But maybe someon...

I bought my well progressed H10 from Ash in PCGS MS62 plastic for $4,600 at a Central States Show a few years back if that helps.

Re: 1902-O VAM Help

Let me try to clear this up. The photos on the V46 page are incorrect and not of a V46. Likely the photos are from a V50.
