Re: 1898-OV23 oddity

Could it be that what you are seeing is light bounce off striations on the inside of the holder in the plastic and not on the coin?

Re: SSDC price guide.

Once it is rolled out, will there be a mechanism to suggest changes in pricing for certain VAMs that folks have extensive knowledge of?

Re: In memorial

What a shock. I talked many times at shows with John, and even his wife joined us on occasion. He was a great guy and friendly as heck. I will miss him. I bought a 81-O V1D from him not long ago. RIP Big John Vernieri.

All I can tell you is you have a V44. I will admit that on some coins the scratches are hard to see.

I could tell you had either a V17A or V17B from the first set of photos. The following is a secondary PUP besides the gouges at Liberty's neck tip.

Yeah, V17B. Still looking for a plain V17, but likely doesn't exist.

Looks like a member of the V17 family. How about a clear shot of Liberty's neck tip including the 1st left star and 1 in the date. Then a shot of the A in DOLLAR.

Re: 1902-O vam-17 retry

Not sure why you are having issues posting pics. Can't tell what you are trying to do and why it isn't working. I don't use my hand held for this. I use a laptop. Likely why I can't help. I assume you are trying to upload "jpg" files instead of "tiff" or "png". I think in the past that if I tried to...

Re: On a 1902-O vam-17

Post pics if you can. The date placement, mint mark placement and whether it is a C4 or C4/c3 reverse will help. Also include anything that might be a PUP, at least in your eyes.

Re: Calling all 87-S VAMs-1B,4, & 6

Wayne, TY very much!!!! That seems to nail my question. If I have the progression correct, then the gouge/scratch would also be on the VAM-6. Your photos are awesome :D If anyone wants to send coins to Leroy to update the VAM-4/1B listings, feel free to do so. Would be nice to get confirmation on th...

Re: Calling all 87-S VAMs-1B,4, & 6

Just to clarify what I am looking for. The VAM listings have the three VAMs listed with a C3a reverse. This does not automatically mean they are the same. But that being said, they are the same reverse die on the three VAMs in this case. The VAM-1B is listed for the die gouge/scratch on eagle's righ...

Calling all 87-S VAMs-1B,4, & 6

If you have any VAM-4 or VAM-6 1887-S VAMs, can you check to see if your coin has the die gouge/scratch on eagle's right wing as shown in the VAM-1B VAM Plate? They may be hard to see or photograph. but they should be there.

Thanks in advance. Photos welcome.

Re: Phantom E and Possible E clashers

I am confused. The V45.9 is unclashed. So anything on it would not be an E clash. I thought you were looking for clashed coins that might have a phantom clashed E. Whatever you are doing, just have fun with it.
