Re: Site maintenance
Doug, if you are referring to the VAM Plates from the Encyclopedia, they are owned by Coin Universe as I recall. As such, they are copyrighted and as far as I know we do not have permission to use them on VW. Enthusiastic folks were putting them on VW 1.0, but there was a large effort to go thru and...

You got me on the High O not being part of the listing. I join the stymied club.

Re: 1901 O VAM?
My two cents. Date: The crack at 01 in the date matches the VAM-35 VAM plate. Even though I see the date placement as normal, LVA could have seen a far date when he listed it. Wouldn't be the first time. Mint Mark: Looks high to me. C4 Reverse & Reverse Legend Doubling: C4 reverses (and C4/C3) notor...

Re: 1901 O VAM?
Not to throw a monkey wrench into this, but the date looks like a normal placement to me, not far.

Was waiting for that post Roger. Seems to have come a little late. I am not sure there is agreement in this forum with you on that subject.

Re: Leroy Explains C4/C3 Reverses
If you think about it, this raises an interesting conundrum. At least to me it does. If this work by Leroy happened at the beginning of 1979, then is it possible that any early 1900 to 1904 VAM listings prior to 1979 could have actually been a C4/C3 reverse but listed as a C4 or C3? As such, I am al...

Leroy Explains C4/C3 Reverses
Ran across this in my files prompted by a recent post. Kinda cool.

Re: 1902P - Has me stumped
Couple of things. This comes from my 1902-O study. 1. At the time anyway Leroy told me he liked to see the LEB1 squarely over the middle of the 2nd denticle to be called a Very Near Date. Seemed odd to me but at that time he made the rules. 2. I asked about doubled profiles on a number of coins. Hi...

One example of what can come out of die studies is shown in the following link.

Re: 1921-D guess the grade (revealed!)
This reminds me of a time back 7 to 8 years ago when PCGS and NGC were in a contest to see how many 1902-Os they could slab in MS 66 that were clearly 64 or 65.

Re: 1921-D guess the grade
Since Dennis does this type of post because the result is unexpected, I am going with 62. I would go 58, but that seems out of the realm even for NGC.

Re: Lack of posting topics and overall interest
Back in the day (maybe 2007 to 2014 or so), I called VAMming the wild, wild west of coin collecting. This was both for myself and looking at what others were doing on VW1.0. There was a lot going on, and a lot of folks who had opinions about what was going on, some good, some bad. It made for lively...

I would listen to Kurt. There are only 3 die pairs with a far date for this series.

Long gone are the days you can sell a piece of toast with Jesus' portrait on it. I can't even sell there anymore without starting at a $1. Not doing it.

Re: 1884-S UFO Die Pair
They are from HA, but HA references Collector Universe for the images. I guess better to be safe than sorry and not post them. It may be academic anyway since the obv and rev dies are shown on the other VAM pages.
