Did we slab that lanyard?
You told me at some point it would be slabbed, but if it was, I never saw it. Would have been cool.

Sine we are sharing stories, here is one that many folks may not have seen and is also one of my favorites.

Re: My Almost 1st VAM Pick

Pete, I remember the V12B debacle. You raised quite a stir, but of course Leroy was complicit in this as well. One of my fondest memories is the VAM dinner at a FUN Show with JR, Fogie and you, where the fire damaged V45A was transferred to you for part of the dinner tab and summarily named by JR be...

Re: Wake up call shocker- Even to this older hoarder

Scott, my belief is that VAM prices were artificially inflated for a long time. I believe there were several reasons why. So being distraught over that is misguided. Just a long time VAMmers opinion.

Re: My Almost 1st VAM Pick

Tim, I probably shouldn't tell this story. I knew you were in the concrete business via this site before I met you. Having never met you in person, I envisioned you were a big burly brute since concrete flat work is back breaking. Well, we did finally meet at a FUN Show. I remember you were not tall...

Re: My Almost 1st VAM Pick

Scott, you probably don't remember this, and my memory is vague also. I was back in Los Angeles sometime in the 2011-2012 time frame in a September for work. There was a Long Beach coin show. I attended the coin show and hung around Logan's table. It was dinner time, and Logan asked me if I wanted t...

My Almost 1st VAM Pick

ARS_1902-O_VAM45A_1st.jpg I was early in my VAM education. Had a local Mom&Pop B&M shop close to the house. They would let me go thru any and all Morgan & Peace dollars they had. This is one of my most valued treasures from my early VAM days and I still have it after the liquidation sale earlier th...

Re: value on peace

Dom, hope you can take better photos than from 12 years ago. Show us your stuff, or were you being braggadocios with no backing?

By the way, are you still married to the battleax?

I didn't start anything. You are the one who decided to rise from the dead. No wonder you are on the dark side, you only come out at night.

Re: value on peace

Dom, hardly anyone collects Peace dollars. It is called the dark side for a reason. Pat must have put the spock mind-meld on you at some point.

Dom, you bastard. Hope you are well. I guess it took you this long to get over the personal rear entry at the hotel room desk with Pat at one of the St. Louis coin shows.

Re: What is the correct term?

I remember a time in St. Charles Missouri where there were 12 to 13 VAMmers at a dinner table with great light. There were also two V23As at the table. Funny, nobody talked about die progressions, die incest, hard or soft dies, etc. All they cared about was the obverse clash and being able to look a...

Re: What is the correct term?

Nope, don't care. The only thing in all of this that would catch my attention is actually finding a V23A. The rest is noise.

Well, at least this is apparently over except for the intermission folks. Like my father used to say, "All this will get you is a glass of water and toothpick for $0.25".

Re: What is the correct term?

Interesting back & forth. I am not educated on the subject series so I am not in a position to comment on that. I have no dog in this discussion. But I will say I have challenged JR in the past in my lengthy VAM education and always came out of learning something from him. When he was wrong, he read...

Re: Keep or return 1889-O V-13B

Just something to keep in mind. While you are standing on principle for this transaction, this won't change anything on Ebay. Although you will get some sort of personal satisfaction I guess. Ebay exists (as every company does) to make money. They make money on volume sellers. Ebay will NOT stand on...

Probably not a popular approach with most.
Guess a lot of folks missed what I said.

I do not excuse the so-called scammer. But you knew something was wrong going in. Do what you want. I just offered an opinion.

What's the saying, "Buyer Beware".

Re: Keep or return 1889-O V-13B

Everyone has their approach. Whoever this seller is, there are others that do the same thing. Most folks (at least on this site) can tell when photos have been doctored. Apparently you recognized it. I usually ferret out my coin purchase decisions before going after a coin, knowing the photos have b...
