Buuuuttttt, what about VAMs?

What a shock. I talked many times at shows with John, and even his wife joined us on occasion. He was a great guy and friendly as heck. I will miss him. I bought a 81-O V1D from him not long ago. RIP Big John Vernieri.

All I can tell you is you have a V44. I will admit that on some coins the scratches are hard to see.

I could tell you had either a V17A or V17B from the first set of photos. The following is a secondary PUP besides the gouges at Liberty's neck tip.

Yeah, V17B. Still looking for a plain V17, but likely doesn't exist.

Looks like a member of the V17 family. How about a clear shot of Liberty's neck tip including the 1st left star and 1 in the date. Then a shot of the A in DOLLAR.

Post pics if you can. The date placement, mint mark placement and whether it is a C4 or C4/c3 reverse will help. Also include anything that might be a PUP, at least in your eyes.

If you have any VAM-4 or VAM-6 1887-S VAMs, can you check to see if your coin has the die gouge/scratch on eagle's right wing as shown in the VAM-1B VAM Plate? They may be hard to see or photograph. but they should be there.

I am confused. The V45.9 is unclashed. So anything on it would not be an E clash. I thought you were looking for clashed coins that might have a phantom clashed E. Whatever you are doing, just have fun with it.
