Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies

Got back 2 rotated Peace dollars in my last ANACS submission, 1922 ccw 40 degrees in AU 58, and 1923 cw 50 degrees AU details cleaned. Will try to VAM them and get a photo or two on here.

Re: Calling ALL VAMMers - Rotated dies

You've likely seen this page, but it is the one I have used for a number of years..... http://vamworld.com/wiki/Morgan_Dollar_Rotated_Dies there are likely some to be added to the list.

Re: 1900 O VAM help

Might check out VAM 21D1, possibly early die state, not full cracks / break - which could revert it back to being VAM 21

Re: 1921 d - VAM 1CQ

Old thread, but was going through a few Morgans and found another later die state feature that could be used as a PUP for this VAM... Rim area near the P in PLURIBUS. Have it on 2 examples.

I know we have at least a couple of VAMmers in the Wichita area (Andover is basically a suburb) Hope they didn't have any issues from the storm....

Re: She is no HOT LIPS

That is true, but makes me wonder how many different VAMs could be identified at this level of wear... maybe a list could be started... or perhaps there is one already. Hot lips would make the list, perhaps an E clash or 2, a 7/8 tailfeather? I'd guess the 90 CC tailbar could survive it. Others????

Frank, I appreciate the added photos. Nice close ups for comparison to the 14a, 20, and 20a I am researching. Thanks, jon

Re: Maybe OT - Coin Shows

It was in the land of "Oz" yesterday. A few places hit here in Kansas, Andover hit the worst. We had a 11 mile twister track end about 25 miles west of my place and another touch down about 10 miles due North of here.

Welcome to posting on the site. Take a look at VAM 25 as a possibility, it appears to have a top heavy MM as well.

Re: I guess it has to be a VAM 1?

As I went to register the coin, I double checked my submission coins and sure enough, I sent in the wrong one to ANACS. The EDS 1B is still in my pile for submitting and the one that came back AU 58 is actually VAM 22 - now the top pop VAM 22 in the registry., up from AU 53. Guess that's why we need...

Re: I guess it has to be a VAM 1?

I have it in my notes in my preliminary 1891 o die study. Will list it as VAM 1 in registry but note on holder that it belongs in the 1B die family. I use non-listable gouges in lower areas that do not wear away easily to match up die pairings. The depth of LIBERTY on the obverse holds small gouges ...

Thanks for the replies, and thank you to the guys who make the changes here and in the registry. My computer skills are pretty weak, usually lucky to get a photo or two added to my posts.

I guess it has to be a VAM 1?

Got my submission back from ANACS recently. As usual, pleased with their service and grading. I sent in an 1891 o that came back AU 58 and plan to add it to my registry. In my study of the 91 o Morgans, I found this particular coin to be the same die pair as VAM 1B, but prior to the pitting event. S...

1891 o - VAM 20a discovery info

Received the info from Mr. Roberts through an ANACS submission. Appreciate if someone could create the page, as well as add a spot SSDC census. Thanks, Jon

Re: Patience, persistence, and a little bit of luck

Update on an old story.... finally sent the 9B in to ANACS for certification. Cleaned G4 - about what I expected. But it did fill one of the missing slots in my set and is currently the only one listed. Amazing for as tough as it was to find one, it raised my 91 o set score by 16 points Just glad to...

Re: Overdate VAM-20

Something I posted earlier in this thread shows what I have found so far in the sequence of events. I lack a VAM 14 with no clashing, not sure that it exists, but unable to prove it. The sequence includes VAM 1D as well.

Re: Overdate VAM-20

Digging up an old thread after seeing the grades from my recent submission @ ANACS. Looks like the VAM 20 now has a sibling... new VAM 20 A discovery piece.
