I paid right about MS-62 PL Graysheet.
It was not attributed.
The DIs are really something. They really jump out at you.

Re: 1878 P Rev 79 VAM 225A - PCGS MS62 (not on holder)

I sold it for any old MS-64 Rev 79 Graysheet.
The DIs were too faint for mr to charge premium.
I now have a MS-62 PL that is spectacular.

Re: 1878 P Rev 79 VAM 225A - PCGS MS62 (not on holder)

It depends on the DIs. How clear do your DIs show up. I had a MS-64 that I got ride of because the DIs were almost nonexistent.
Photos would help.

Could you show a photo of the bust point through the 18 in 1883?
Also a photo of the eagle’s wing neck gap?

Not the first I’ve been VAM wrong. I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Thank you JB & JR for all of your input on VW.

Re: 1886 S VAM 4 Listable Break

It looks like the date in this post has a slant to it, like the VW photos of VAMs 2 & 3. The VW photo of VAM-4 looks like the one is slightly higher creating a level date.

Looks like a planchet defect below the E to me.

What about the VAM JB?
I’m not feeling VAM-4.

Sunce the is no date and mintmark mentioned in this, what were we talking about 2 years ago?
The very first post in this thread tells you that it is a 1891-O VAM-20.

Re: 1879 CC Unique?

Is there a point on the coin you would like me to try and get a clearer picture of to help with your research? @ShamShield First, I didn't mean to say VAM-2A in my last message, but VAM-2B. Second, I looked closer at your photos and no longer think it is just a 2B. It is hard with the condition of ...

Re: 1879 CC Unique?

How about LDS VAM 7 . The little things . Tom, My opinion is that it is not a LDS VAM-7. I’ve been following these for awhile. As the VAM-7 die progresses, the clashing becomes less noticeable than this coin and a die chip develops in the lower part of the G in God. Also, the EDS “in between” coin ...

Re: 1879 CC Unique?

I do think that it is likely a VAM-2A.
Due to conditions, it may be hard to see good VAM details.

As far as value, it looks low grade and harshly cleaned. That really hurts the value. But at least it is a 79-CC.

Re: 1882 O..VAM-29A......Super CD.

Hi Steve,
I have a few 29As. My best is a MS-65, like my 38B.
I have found it harder to locate a MS-65 in 29A than the 38B. I passed on a few 38B MS-65s before I won mime. The others went way too high for me.
Keep up the good work.

Re: 1892 CC VAM 2 or 2a?

I can only say that my coin was not listable. It was the first one that I could find with the UR crack. I wanted one to submit with the 2A.
I don’t know what the experts would say about your coin.
Good luck
I’m always looking for another 2A. 😀

Re: 1892 CC VAM 2 or 2a?

Thanks for responses. I agree it’s not 2a since cud is key attribute. It does seem like something is missing, unless all “V2 CC tilted left” reverses have the U-R break. If so I’d think it would be in the description. That is a substantial break not to be listed. Should there be a V2 “no break” and...

Re: 1892 CC VAM 2 or 2a?

I am the one that made the submission to LVA. He called this a VAM-2. My VAM-2 was a XF-45. I have been trying to find an MS but every one I have seen has gone way over Graysheet, so I did not get them. I have doubts that it is the same die pair as the original VAM-2. The date crack looks a lot like...
