Re: Any luck at Heritage last night?
A lot of VAMs sold last night, including several bargains IMO. I got the 1878 7TF VAM 166 PCGS VF35 CAC – a variety I feel is perpetually underappreciated for how tough it is. It made John Roberts' "A Dozen VAMs for 2023" list and while his comment about it was "no longer impossible to acquire", go...

Nice, I have never run across one of those. They seem to be a lot scarier than the 87-O VAM 30A.

Re: Piecing Out Near Complete Elite Clashed Dies Set - Many at or near common money!
Rob,
I sent you another PM. I would like the 1921 VAM 40A if you end up piecing out your Elite Clashed Die Set.
Thanks,
Bill

Thanks guys, I would agree with the 6a designation and a clarification update of the 6b page requirements.

Re: 1897 O VAM-6b Die Break lower reverse
Cool coin, but can someone help understand what makes this a VAM 6B rather than a VAM 6A LDS?

My guess is it is a fake. Post some pictures for the experts here to evaluate.

Re: Fishing on the Bay
bjsilverfox does your VAM 2X1 have metal cuds on the rim left and right .. It was nice to wake up some of the Dark side . Love you all . My discovery coin is pictured in the 1922 S VAM 2X1 LVA Plate Photos. I don't recall it having rim cuds and it does not appear to show any in the photo. I will ha...

The 1922 S VAM 2X1 is one of my DC coins. So, no you are not the only one out there actively hunting Peace Dollars.

Dennis, thanks for the great article. It jogged my memory, and I pulled this one out to take a picture. I think it has to be pretty close to the VLDS you pictured in your article.

Re: 1923 D VAM 1X2
Probably not. I imagine someone sent him the VAM 1X2 in 2010 because of the break above the 1 that wasn't mentioned on the VAM 1X1 because of the larger break by IN, causing him to list that break separately. Three years later, someone realized that the break above the 1 was there before the one by...

1923 D VAM 1X2
I recently picked up a 1923 D VAM 1X2 and have a question about the statement attributed to Leroy in the Comments:
"1. LVA letter Aug 12 2013. VAM 1X2 occurs before 1X1-made note of that in description." Is this a correct statement? It seems to me this comment should read VAM 1X2 occurs after 1X1.

Re: Can Anyone help Identify This 1922 D Peace Dollar?
ANACS has only graded two 1922 D VAM 16 B , both as AU 58. My DC piece was purchased around 18 years ago from Jim's Coins & Stamps Auction. The coin languished in an NGC holder after they failed to honor my paid attribution retained cud request. Resubmitted to ANACS in 2016 and finally got respectf...

Re: Can Anyone help Identify This 1922 D Peace Dollar?
VAM 16B John, you are the crusher of dreams. I must have been through the 1922 D list of VAM's 4 or 5 times, but evidently skipped over the descriptions beginning with doubling features. Can someone please add VAM 16B to the 1922 D Die Break Guide? Nice find BJ. Does your coin display reverse colla...

Can Anyone help Identify This 1922 D Peace Dollar?
This 1922 D has a B2 reverse with no significant PUP'S. The observe is a different story. There is a rim to rim die break through the top of the Y in LIBERTY terminating with rim cuds at both ends of the break. There is also a long die break from the designer initials through Liberty's neck through ...
