Re: O/T Taxman

The seller doesn't influence anything ebay does regarding taxes. I live in Oregon with no sales tax but when I sell coins the buyer often gets charged sales tax from his state not mine. If your state doesn't charge for coins you need to address it when you see it on the invoice from ebay. Call them ...

Re: USPS question

Remember that, in my experience, the USPS has a habit of refusing the claim at first. Don't give up! Go right back at them and insist they honor their insurance, after all you paid for it. It can be a pain in the butt but they need to be held accountable. When they lose money, they tighten up their ...

Here is a 1P3 I have on ebay if that helps in the sorting out of this VAM. https://www.ebay.com/itm/133877259290
Not trying to advertise here just for identifying the die progression.

Re: O/T USPS GOOF UP THE HONEY STORY

Insurance on coins is no guarantee you will get your money back. They will make it nearly impossible to get your money back. Don't give up as their standard first reply is to deny the claim. I once sold a large beer sign and it didn't even get delivered to the buyer since they crushed it in shippin...

Re: Watch your backs at coin shows!

I repeat and it would have worked if you could have switched fake for real. Hide the real and leave the fake out. If using a car you can fix it so you slide the real under the back seat from the trunk area while the fake sits in the trunk area. Considering the amount of loss it seems well worth the ...

$25 didn't fill my gas can. My big ride-on mower sucks it up. We've gone over $5 in most stations here on the Oregon coast.

What did you come back as Bob? If you don't mind sharing... It really is spooky reading through it, isn't it? I forgot to mention that if you need a little extra weight in the dummy case, add some lead weights found at any outdoor store.

Theft at gun shows!

Years ago I watched a movie with Robert Forster where he was a jewelry/diamond salesman. He had a dummy case he used. Then he built a secret compartment in the trunk of his car under the floor where the real diamonds were put. He put the dummy case full of fake diamonds on top of it on the floor of ...

What was the last VAM the Mr. VanAllen put a discovery lable on since new discoveries are now done by VAM experts?
I wouldn't slight Leroy since I would consider him a very substantial VAM expert. After all, without Leroy we wouldn't be where we are with VAMs.

I have a bunch of them from MS 61 clear up to MS 65. The 65 is in an ICG holder but the rest are ANACS. A guy was selling a bunch of coins and he didn't know what he had. That was good pickins.

Re: How Long Have You Collected our Beloved Morgan Dollars ???

It is sad and very concerning that younger age groups such as millenials etc dont seen to be real interested in Numismatics, as evidenced by lack of shear participation. They still collect but just not coinage to the larger degree of us boomers and our forfathers. This not likely to change due to o...

Re: How Long Have You Collected our Beloved Morgan Dollars ???

I grew up very poor but have lots of history of collecting. My folks started buying and selling antiques when I was just a lad so I learned a lot. Some highlights were: Once trying to fill my penny books I got five rolls of pennies at the bank and I was very upset to see they were all new silver col...
