Re: An 1878-S

I could not tell which VAM it is.
I checked my VAM-34 and I agree.
Good work Clay.

Cherry Pickers Guide

I have a friend who is looking for Cherry Pickers Guide, 6th Edition, Vol 2.
He says it apparently is out of print, and the ones he has seen (I guess used copies) are a few hundred dollars.
Do any of you have one you would like to sell?

Re: 1878 S V37A

I can see the line to the right of the 7, but very hard to see; must tilt dollar at the correct angle to see the line.
Line visible on both the V-37 and V-37A.
I don't think my 37A shows feeder finger marks.

Re: 1878 VAM-33 without a die chip in 8?

The 78S V-42, 42A, and 42B have the same obverse as 33 and 33A.
Might be worthwhile to check out those also.

Re: BROKEN CROSSARM ON 'R' IN TRUST 1878-S SHORT NOCK--RARE OR COMMON?

The most common 78-S with no crossbar r of trust is V-19A and V-74.

I bid on six of the VAMs and didn't get any.
Should have bid more on a couple of them.

Re: 78-S -- new VAM-51 die 2

Thanks Wayne for putting the 51 die 2 photos in the 51.2 VAMWorld page.
Now 78-S collectors will be able to identify a 51.2 -- Good luck Tiny.

Not yet -- last I heard Leroy was still finishing up the 78-S Guide.
Didn't hear an estimate of completion and printing.

Wayne,
Yes, these are Leroy's photos.
Leroy's photos have his description printed on the bottom of the photo.

Re: broken r 1878s vam 2

78-S VAM-1E did come before the 103 die 5, however 103 die 5 is listed along with its sibling 103 die 1 to 4 as sharing the same obverse II 15. Also, 1E was one of the early VAMs listed by Leroy and a few of the early VAMs have been eliminated i.e. V-1A, 1F, and 1H.
